The Stuttgart Law Center provides legal services to the USAG Stuttgart Military community in the areas of Client Services, Military Justice, Administrative Law, and International Affairs.

All clients must bring valid identification, SSN for everyone being claimed on return, POA if filing jointly and one spouse not present, W-2, 1095-C, 1099's, and any other tax related documents.


Process claims that Active Duty Service members, and DA and DoD civilians file against the U.S. Government.

  • Loss or damage that you suffer incident to your service may be payable. To learn if you have a payable claim, call your claims office to discuss your particular circumstances.

    Claims personnel can tell you if your claim is payable, and explain your filing requirements. All incident to service losses should be filed directly with your respective Military Services claims office. The Stuttgart Claims Office is an Army claims office.


Translations are done on a time available basis and must be delivered in person and dropped off.

The following is a list of those items we will translate:

  • English to German Translations: Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Death Certificates, Driver's Licenses, German Marksmanship Awards.
  • German to English Translations: provided on legal documents that this office receives and serves.

Legal Assistance

We provide free, confidential legal services and advice to service members, retirees, DoD/DA Civilians and their family members, as well as contractors and their family members, when DOD is contractually obligated to provide support (contractors must have "legal assistance" specifically identified in their contract).

American Attorney Consultations

Walk-in consultations are available on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please call to schedule these appointments.

    There is no Attorney-Client relationship in executing IA responsibilities.

Power of Attorney & Notary Services

No appointments needed. This service is available only on a walk-in basis.

Powers of Attorney
  • General Powers of Attorney grant broad authority to your attorney-in-fact (the person you give the power).
  • Special Power of Attorney grants limited, specialized authority to your attorney-in-fact (the person you give the power).
  • To set up a Power of Attorney, please bring all relevant and pertinent information (and documentation) like VIN numbers for vehicls or addresses for real estate.
Notary Services
  • The document to be notarized must be signed in the presence of a notary public.
  • Each person whose signature will be notarized must be present.

Military Justice

  • Provide military justice support to Commanders and senior Non-Commissioned Officers within USAG Stuttgart; prosecute courts-martial, assist victims, adjudicate adverse administrative actions, and provide preventative law instruction.

    Typical actions processed by the Military Justice Section include:

    • Prosecuting violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice
    • Assisting law enforcement throughout the criminal investigative process
    • Advising and assisting with adjudication of Non-Judicial Punishment
    • Drafting Letters of Reprimand
    • Representing the United States on Administrative Separation Boards
    • Liaising between commanders and civilian prosecutors
